I'd say Flattop is kid-friendly for 2/3 of the way up. The last scramble is a bit much for children. There's probably some that can get up there just fine but we made the decision to turn back. No matter how far you go the views of Anchorage and Cook Inlet are pretty great. It was also very busy on this beautiful day, if you're looking for solitude you'll probably want to find another spot. Flattop is the most-climbed mountain in Alaska.
