Matanuska Experiment Farm

 I was pleasantly surprised by this hike. I wasn't really sure what to expect with something called an "Experiment Farm". It's just a farm that is used for research by the University of Alaska Fairbanks. There are trails around the property, through farmland and forest. There was also a loop trail to Long Lake and there appeared to be another one that went all the way to Matanuska Lakes.

The kids LOVED this. The cows were their favorite. The trails are well-marked and well-defined. They were also bare and dry right now. A stroller ride might be a little bumpy but entirely doable.

You might think you're in the wrong place when you first get there will be a large building and a paved parking lot. This is the trailhead!
